Malé
Most visitors to Maldives will land in Malé, a bustling capital city packed with people and traditional called the “King’s Island” as it was populated by the ancient royal dynasties for its central location. Often bypassed as visitors head straight to the beaches, we recommend that you first make a stop in Malé. Take some time to visit its 17th Century Friday Mosque, Malé Market, National Museum and Islamic Center. Explore the hustle of the busy streets, soak in the unique culture of the place, go shopping and enjoy the local food while you’re at it!
If you are staying at the Club Med Maldives, you can sign up for a half-day excursion to Malé which includes visiting all the popular spots. There will also be a local guide who will explain the interesting history of the capital city and will include free time for shopping in the lively markets too.
